Mariposa : celebrating Canadian folk music : Prairies and the west coast
Vera Johnson was a Vancouver-based busker and folk singer who was a regular participant at the Mariposa festival throughout her career. Here she and guitarist Steve Goodman participate in a workshop during the 1976 festival on Toronto's Centre Island.
Vera Johnson participated in a workshop of women's songs in 1975, including a song "Marion" about her mother. In the introduction, Johnson speaks about her mother's experience as a young woman in England and her life as an immigrant in Saskatchewan.
