Comunidade newspaper, 1975-1979. Part 1: Records and commentary

While Comunidade's main focus was on politics, drawing attention to social injustices and some of the ugliest realities of the immigrant experience in Canada, its pages also celebrated the arts and culture, reporting on the many concerts, plays, exhibits, and festivals happening in the community during this period. Comunidade itself organized dances to celebrate its anniversaries. The newspaper also had a section dedicated to literature, which reviewed Portuguese-Canadian works of poetry and fiction.

This is a small sample of the many photos published in the newspaper reporting the performance of arts and culture in the community, the most prevalent being those associated with the annual Portugal Day celebrations of June 10.
