York University Graduate History Student Association leads Canada-wide campaign against cuts to national archives

The York University’s Graduate History Student Association has started what they hope will become a Canada-wide campaign against the dramatic cuts proposed by the Conservative government to the Library and Archives Canada and the Canadian Council of Archives, and the various programs that allow smaller community and university archives to preserve and improve access to the collective memory of all Canadians. See their blog for more information about the cuts and the various movements that have been generated to oppose them: GHSA Blog

The GHSA campaign developed out of the initiative of the PCHP’s members Gilberto Fernandes and Raphael Costa, following the protest letter we sent to Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, the Honourable James Moore, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable John Baird.
