Mariposa : celebrating Canadian folk music : 1962
1962
1962 was a riotous year for the festival, held from August 10-12. More than 8,000 tickets were sold with the headlining acts remaining much the same as the previous year. The Travellers, Bonnie Dobson, Jacques Labrecque, Alan Mills, Jean Carignan, Clair Cline, Finvola Redden, Tom Kines, Mary Jane and Winston Young, The York County Boys, Ed McCurdy, Oscar Brand, John Drainie, Tom Kines, Ian Tyson with Sylvia Fricker all performed, as well as Gordon Lightfoot and Terry Whelan as The Tu-Tones. With such a successful turnout, the festival overwhelmed the small town, creating traffic jams and general mayhem.
