Mariposa : celebrating Canadian folk music : 1978
Summary
In 1978 Ken Whiteley took direction of the festival after Estelle Klein fell ill. With respect for Klein’s decision to diversify the festival, Whiteley expanded the interpretation of the folk genre in order to more actively include the influences of country, blues and jazz music. The festival took place from June 23-25 at the Toronto Islands, Toronto, Ontario with performances by Stan Rogers, Downchild Blues Band, Steve Goodman, Leon Redbone, The Watersons, Hedy West, and Graham Townsend.
