We are preparing a new exhibit about the immigrant experiences of Portuguese women and their labour organization in Toronto's cleaning industry during the 1970s and 1990s, which will build on the materials donated by the Canadian Auto Workers Local 40 to the Clara Thomas Archives & Special Collections, York University Libraries. In the meantime, you can hear Dr. Susana Miranda (Portuguese Canadian History Project | Projeto de História Luso-Canadiana) speak about this subject at History Matters, a lecture series organized by the Toronto Public Library and our colleagues at ActiveHistory.ca
The podcast is available at ActiveHistory.ca: "Keeping the City Clean: Portuguese Women in Toronto's Cleaning Industry, 1970-1990"
