In 2009, the official commemorations for the Day of the Autonomous Region of the Azores were held in Toronto - the first time they were based outside the Azores. To mark the occasion, the City of Toronto named the stretch of College St. between Dufferin St. and Sheridan Ave. as Casa dos Açores Way.
