Title
Day of the Autonomous Region of the Azores' commemorations held in Toronto (Canada)
Description
In 2009, the official commemorations for the Day of the Autonomous Region of the Azores were held in Toronto - the first time they were based outside the Azores. To mark the occasion, the City of Toronto named the stretch of College St. between Dufferin St. and Sheridan Ave. as Casa dos Açores Way. In this photo, the Portuguese-Canadian Toronto City Councilor Ana Bailão (on the right), who tabled the bill; the President of the Azorean Regional Government Carlos César (left of Bailão); and other dignitaries unveil the Casa dos Açores Way street sign on the corner of College St. and Dufferin St.
