On October 28-30, 1966, the PCDA organized the Canadian Conference for Amnesty in Portugal in Toronto, which counted with the sponsorship and participation of various members of the Portuguese "anti-fascist" resistance in exile, as well as many high-profile Canadian politicians, civil servants, labour leaders, activists, scholars, journalists, artists, clergymen, and others.
